Reading Bookmark Contest Official Rules
ELIGIBILITY: The contest is open to all K-12th-grade students enrolled in public, private or home school in Washington and the surrounding communities.
DEADLINE: Bookmark entries must be received at Neighborhood Reads Bookstore, 401 Lafayette St., Downtown Washington, by 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025. Finalists will be contacted no later than Tuesday, March 4. Winner will be announced at Family Reading Night, Friday, March 7, at Washington Middle School.
THEME: The bookmark should celebrate READING – all themes, slogans and artwork are welcome!
CREATION: Entries should be submitted on the provided template. Any original media may be used: paint, crayon, colored pencil, charcoal, etc.

Student’s FIRST NAME ONLY and age should be on the front of the entry.

The following MUST be on the BACK of the entry: Name, Age, School and Phone.
PRIZE: The winning bookmark will be printed and distributed to local school and public libraries and Neighborhood Reads bookstore to share with readers! All bookmark entries will be displayed during Family Reading Night. Winner will be chosen from all entries received by the deadline. Entries received after this date will not be considered.
CLAIMING BOOKMARKS: Students may collect their bookmark entries at Washington Middle School at the conclusion of Family Reading Night. Entries will not be returned after that time.
OFFICIAL STUFF: The Community Literacy Foundation, Neighborhood Reads and event sponsors are not responsible for late, illegible or lost entries. The contest sponsors have the right to restrict, modify or change these contest rules and to reject any entry that does not conform to these rules. Any and all disputes regarding this contest shall be resolved at the sole discretion of the CLF.
